PIJ – Malawi Board of Trustees

ANDERSON J. FUMULANI is PIJ– Malawi Board Chairperson. He holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from University of Leicester of the UK, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree from Columbia Commonwealth University – Malawi and Pan-Africa Diploma in Journalism from Africa Literature Centre (ALC) – Kitwe, Zambia. He is a freelance Media and Communication expert with over 25 cumulative years of practice as a Journalist 15 of which have been with international media (Reuters, IRIN (The New Humanitarian) of the United Nations, Radio Deutsche Welle – Germany and Channel Africa of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

He works as Communication Expert, Qualitative Researcher and Journalism Trainer. He facilitated training of over 100-journalists across Malawi in a joint European Commission – Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) funded Governance and Accountability project through Investigative Journalism capacity building. He also jointly trained Journalists in Editorial Management and Economic Reporting under the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA-Malawi) sponsored project. He is among 8 trainers under the MISA Malawi Capacity Building Program.

ANDERSON J. FUMULANI

EDITH MKWAILA – is the female face of the PIJ in Malawi. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Cultural Studies from University of Malawi, Chancellor College. She also has a diploma in journalism from Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ). She is one of the three Board Members. Ms Mkwaila works at one of Malawi’s biggest newspaper company the Nation Publications Limited (NPL) as arts and entertainment editor. She is very passionate about women’s advocacy and will drive the gender promotion component of PIJ. Currently she the Treasurer for the board of the Coalition for the Prevention of Unsafe Abortion (Copua) which is a network of over 65 local non-governmental organizations working towards advocating for liberalized laws on termination of pregnancy.

TEMWANI MGUNDA – is a decorated media practitioner. He holds an MA in International Communication; a BA in Journalism; and a Diploma in Education (English and History). He currently works under the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at The Polytechnic (University of Malawi) as lecturer in Investigative Journalism and Specialized Writing for Print. He previously worked for Times Group as sub editor; MBC TV as news editor; and Nation Publications Limited as rewrite editor.

TEMWANI MGUNDA
